Conducting & Beer

I conducted three things yesterday (Tuesday).... the first rehearsal of the Lansing Matinee Musicale Women's Chorus for this year, my second round in Practicum Choir, and I ran most of rehearsal for Men's Glee while Sean was working on memorization quizzes. I felt really good about two of these three... not as good about the other. But, then I went out to supper with my friend Jeff, and had a very large glass of beer (and then another smaller one after that). Beer is a happy thing.

I had my second (and final?) lesson with Dr. Snow earlier today. I think final because I think she and Dr. Rayl are switching after this round (so she will work with the doctoral students, and I'll be back with Dr. Rayl). It went really well.

Wednesday evening...

OK, so the titles aren't original... sue me.
At lest I'm *using* titles. I don't usually. :-)

LaunchCast radio on Yahoo! is a very spiffy thing. Thanks to Sean for introducing me to it.

I'm really trying to think of fun things to write about... but nothing is coming to me. I fell asleep on the couch yesterday for the second night in a row. The first night, I woke up the next morning at 6:20. Yesterday, Alicia woke me up at about 0130 so that I could make it up to my bed for the rest of the night. I learned from Rachel that she tried to wake me up at around 0030, and was almost yelling, but I didn't budge or even respond. Wow... must have been *really* tired.

Pretty bored right now. Must go do something.

Tuesday evening...

So... I have no homework for tomorrow, and no class until 12:40...so you would think this would be a perfect time for some R&R, right?
Me, too... but it appears that everyone is busy.. either writing papers or going to dance classes or something. But I think some of them are back now. I should check.

Ah, the joys of modern computing.

Yeah.. so I just spent an afternoon in spy-ware/pop-up ad hell. But I believe I have thwarted them, thanks to some expert advice from my friend Adam, and WindowsXP Service Pack 2. Ad-ware, beware... you are no match for my newly-upgraded system. Bwahahaha.
:-)
Counterpoint homework for tomorrow is done! I'm glad that class is turning out to be easier than I feared it would be. Tomorrow I need to ask Dr. Campbell to be on my Master's Committee.
Lansing Matinee Musicale Women's Chorus rehearsals start next week! That will make my Tuesdays a bit more hectic, but I have a lot of fun working with them.
New resident at the house... who soundly kicked all of our asses at Halo earlier this evening. It's *very* fun having three Xbox's networked throughout the house. (No, we *never* procrastinate... ever.)
I do have a new Gerber (did I already mention that? I guess not) because my old one is lost (it was in the missing duffle bag).... SO... according to the Universal Laws of Losing Things, I will now find it, because I have bought a new one. But, if so, that's OK, cause then I will have an Emergency Backup Gerber Tool. It's good to have Emergency Backup things.
"The coffeemaker has failed."
"Quickly, the Emergency Backup coffeemaker!!"
haha.
There's an Emergency Backup Baton in the Choral Library. It's come in handy for several people in the past.
The 2004 season at Michigan's Adventure is over now.. they closed at 6pm on Sunday (technically, yesterday). My plan is to make to both Cedar Point and Geauga Lake sometime before their seasons end (Oct 31). Both of those make for a nice weekend trip.
Sean Vogt's conducting recital was today... it went swimmingly. John and I both successfully passed work on to one of the new grad students (taking all the music back to the choral library).

This blog site is really neat...except it never gets the date right on the entry... I have to manually change it before I post. Oh, well, I suppose that's not a huge deal.

Tomorrow is: Prep for Conducting Lesson, Lesson @ 1130, Counterpoint @ 1240, Chorale @ 1500. I really like my schedule. :-)

Later, all.

(Oh, by the by... I dont have the commenting preferences ferreted out just yet, but feel free to email if you have something that you just have to share.) :-)

Oh, yeah...

Almost forgot: I conducted in Practicum today (I was the first in the Master's rotation because I have the most "seniority".. when did *that* happen??). And I think I did really well. Dr. Snow is freaking awesome. I can't wait for my lesson with her tomorrow.

Grrr....Duffle bag....

There are exactly 2 places that my duffle bag should be: Either in my room or in my car. I can think of no other places that my duffle bag has ever been to, except places in transit between those two points (and I've searched all of those, too.) But, alas, it is neither of those two places. Gnomes, I tell you... gnomes. They're against me. Have been all year.

Productivity?

I had my lesson today with Dr. Rayl... and it went quite well, acutally. We went over the French diction that I had Rachel help me with, as well as the Haydn that I'm conducting in Practicum tomorrow afternoon. I really shouldn't stress out over lessons as much as I do sometimes. (But other times, I don't stress *enough* over.. ah, well.) I should do some Counterpoint tonight, but I'll probably leave it til tomorrow. It sounds like "Angel" watching is in the works for some of us tonight.

New Site, New Start

Seth's forray into web-journaling, Take 2.
...and, action!

Hey, I figured I take another crack at it. (Now there's a phrase you wonder how it originated... "taking another shot" makes perfect sense, but from whence comes "take another crack"?)

Today was my last day working at Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon, MI. I did First Flight at RipCord... and then got sent home. There were so few people in the park that they took reservations for RipCord at Guest Relations, and then simply had Sups or Managers come staff the crew whenever they actually had flights.

I already like this site better than Blurty... it just looks nicer. (Although, that's most likely just because the default text and background are different.) < /obvious >

That's all I've got right now... Conducting lesson tomorrow at 11:30, Counterpoint at 12:40, Chorale at 15:00. Fun times.
