Ah, January...

This month has seen some great and some not-so-great things going on in my life.

The not-so-great things have to do with employment. Within the past few months I have interviewed for three different "real jobs" (i.e. Full-time, salary & benefits, etc.) Two of them I was turned down for, and the third has been placed "on-hold" until March. Grrr... quite frustrating to be at a point in life where I'm ready to start being a little more stable, and am having trouble finding the mechanism by which to accomplish that feat. I am quite happy doing what I'm doing (my musician job at St. Andrew's is *awesome*, and I still love my seasonal work at Worlds of Fun), but one of these days it would be nice to stop living on the "college student" budget.

The great things have to do with the long-dormant romantic area of my life. On December 27, I started dating a lovely young lady named Mandy Jorgensen, and I have really good feelings about this relationship... We've already become very close and we're both really excited about getting to know each better and again (We had previously "kinda dated" waaaay back in High School, and hadn't been in contact very much since then.) It was a little bit scary to tap into the romantic area of my emotions, since I had kinda sealed those up for the past year or so... but I definitely see good things happening with the two of us, and I'm very glad I decided to let myself love again. [Cue sappy "Awwwwww..."]

In other news, I got to conduct at church today, as I was subbing for Krista. 'Twas a lot of fun... I got to ring the bell for the Gospel response, conduct the anthem, conduct the psalm (*that* was fun... it's kinda hard to conduct unmeasured notation when you're not used to it), and stop the acolyte with the second cross (definitely one of the more important duties of the choir director) haha. I also had a bug placed in my ear the other day about a possible opening with another community choir in the area, oddly enough which would not conflict with Jacomo Chorale... I'm definitely going to be investigating this. :-)

So... life goes on (... much as it has this past age...) Oh, sorry... channeled Gandalf there for a moment.

I hope all is well with everyone.
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.
